Rob van der Jagt, MSc, studied mechanical engineering and
After graduation Rob worked for Shell for approximately 10 years.
He left Shell to build a new surface treatment technology venture
from a laboratory operation into a company that got noticed by the
big players in that industry. In 1998 the company was sold to
Bodycote International plc.
His years as the managing director of that company and of a second
technology venture that he co-founded in 1993 gave him years of
hands-on experience in commercializing new technologies and
products and in monetizing the value of intellectual property.
From 2001 onwards he has also acted as a business angel and a
licensee of a few patent protected products. So, he is very capable
of looking at an opportunity from the perspective of both the licensor
and the licensee. This is an important asset in managing the
expectations on both sides during intellectual property monetization
Rob has a network of specialists from different disciplines with whom
he enters into a flexible cooperation if and when their specialized
knowledge is needed.
